You may have notice we have been quiet on the news as last Monday was the Trophy Direction Finding Foxhunt, but something happened which has never happened before… No team found the Fox by the end of the competition, though several got close, so nobody won! We now realise that we did not really have any plan in place to deal with this unlikely event – it has happened on fun and friendly hunts but never before for the Trophy competition.
So we are re-running the hunt this coming Monday 10th August, from Thorpe Recreation Ground as usual, though starting at the slightly earlier time of 19.00 to try and overcome the reducing daylight. The hunt will be for up to two hours as usual and if not team finds the fox by 21.00 then the Fox will announce where they are and teams will be invited to navigate to the fox in the usual way and the winning team will be the one with the least mileage on their clock.
If you would like to take part, or just want to come and see whats involved, join me at the Thorpe Recreation Ground before 19.00 on Monday 10th August. If you wish to take part the main rules are that there is a minimum of two people per team, you need to have Direction Finding equipment capable of operating on 145.350MHz (eg NARC DF100) and need to have at least one charged mobile phone per team.
The Fox has confirmed that they will be on Ordnance Survey printed map 134Â
