Welcome to week two hundred and fifty seven of NARC’s contest news
Back from a fun couple of weeks journeying to Sorrento and back by train. Apologies for the 2 week gap.
Back to the grind once more….
I should mention as an aside that the Koblenz sked on 7.123MHz (ish) has been moved to Saturday 19th September at 10am. All are welcome.

Contesting can be great fun but I know there’s a reluctance to step into unknown waters. It’s a great way of improving many aspects of our hobby including one’s own performance and the quality of your station. If you have any interest whatsoever please call in to the contest net on Friday evening at 9pm on 145.250MHz FM or speak to any of the regular contesters on 450. Or indeed email me!

The Make more miles on VHF Meteor scatter sprint contest of 12-14 August was entered by the Trimingham contest team with NARC members G4CDN and G6ELF with G4DML using the call M0KUM and achieving 1st place in the QRO section:-

Thought I would send you some competition news
Wilson Graham and I took part in the 2026 144 MS sprint contest.
We wanted to show that G stations can topple the European dominance of the contest.
We used 2×14 el at 25m from the 65m asl Trimingham site. We also achieved the best ODX at 2347 km
On 30th August the results of the 432MHz UKAC of 11th August were published. NARC had entered a team of 8. In the Open section EI8KN was our only representative coming 11th. In the Restricted section results were G4LPP 6th, G4AFF 16th, G3SGC 35th, G4HUN/p 42nd, G8VPE 74th, G4DYC 81st and G4KQY 85th. As a team we came 5th and remain 5th in this series. On 8th September the results of the 50MHz UKAC of 13th August came out. NARC fielded 9 stations in this one. In the Open section M0NKR was 3rd, G4AFF was 4th and G3LDI 11th. In the Restricted section G4LPP was 5th, EI8KN 38th, G4KQY 73rd, G8VPE 81st, G4DYC 82nd and G3YLA 83rd. Our team was 4th in this one and remain 4th in this series. Link here to results
On 9th September the results of the 70MHz UKAC of 20th August were released. Our team of 6 placed as follows:- In the Open section G4AFF was 2nd. In the Restricted section G4LPP was 16th, EI8KN 17th, G8VPE 62nd and G4DYC 63rd. In the Low power section G3SGC was 9th. NARC came 4th in this one and remain 4th in this series. Link here to results
On 13th September the results of the 144MHz UKAC of 1st September were declared. In the Open section G4AFF was 6th and EI8KN was 17th. In the restricted section G4HUN/P was 39th, G4DYC was 116th and G3YLA was 127th. In the Low power section G3SGC was 16th. Our team came 7th in this one but remain 6th overall in the series. On 16th September the results of the 1.3GHz UKAC of 18th August were produced. In the Open section G4LPP was 4th, G4AFF 5th and EI8KN was 11th. In the Low Power section G3SGC was 14th. NARC’s team came 5th and remain 5th in the series. Link here to results
The results of the SHF UKAC of 25th August were released on 17th September. In the 2.3GHz Restricted section G4LPP was 2nd and G3SGC was 16th. This placed the club 3rd in this contest and we remain 5th overall on 2.3GHz. As yet we have no entries on the other 3 SHF bands but are working on that! Link here to results

In the overall UKAC we are currently 5th, but a long way behind Wirral in 4th. Interestingly Parallel lines group have a perfect 6000 score so far! Link here
On HF
The results of the IOTA contest of 25/26 July are out. As far as I am aware, the only NARC interest in this one was Gordon, GI3PXT who entered along with EI5JTB as EJ3KYB from EU-121 Aran Aka Arranmore coming 27th in the Multi Single section. Link here to results
The results of the first contest of the Autumn series (SSB) of 7th September were rapidly released. NARC fielded a team of 9 who stormed to a good lead with Stewart G4AFF coming 1st in the 100W section scoring 1000 points and Tracey 2E0CEY coming 32nd but with the help of the 1.5 uplift for intermediate stations scored 1123 points for the club! 100W section, G4AFF 1st, G3LDI 9th, G4IVV 10th, 2E0CEY 32nd, G6ELF 40th, G4KQY 59th, G4DYC 75th and M1AFQ 91st. In the Low power section M0RYB/P was 4th. A great start to this series. Link here to results

On VHF
On 1st September the 144MHz UKAC ran – results already out, see above.
On 2nd September the 144MHz FT8 AC (2h and 4h) ran – in the 2h section EI8KN is 3rd on claimed scores in the Open section. In the Restricted section G0BIX is 12th on claimed score. In the Low power section G0ODR is second on Claimed score. In the 4h section G0BIX is 9th on Claimed score in the Restricted section. Link here to claimed scores 2h
On 5th/6th September the 144MHz Trophy test ran. For NARC G4AFF entered the 6S section and EI8KN as well. Link here to claimed scores
On 8th September the 432MHz UKAC ran. NARC fielded 4 stations. G4AFF, G3SGC G4KQY and G4DYC all in the Restricted section. Link here to claimed scores
On 9th September the 432MHz FT8 AC 2h and 4h sections ran. In the 2h section Open, EI8KN entered and in the Restricted section G0BIX was there, In the 4h section Restricted there was G0BIX. Link here to 2h section claimed scores
On 10th September the 50MHz UKAC ran. 5 NARC stations were active. G4DYC, EI8KN, G3YLA, G3LDI and G8VPE. It looks like conditions were pretty poor and scores were low. Link here to claimed scores
On Tuesday 15th September the 1.3GHz UKAC ran I was back home for this one!. 4 of us entered for NARC, G4LPP, G4AFF, G3SGC and EI8KN. Conditions were poor into the country but reasonable to Europe from here. Link here to claimed scores
On Thursday 17th September the 70MHz UKAC ran. Once again conditions were poor. Active for the club were G4AFF, G3SGC, G4LPP and G8VPE. Activity was reasonable but everything was a struggle and UBNs are expected! Link here to claimed scores
On HF
RSGB contests:-
SSB field day– 5th / 6th September – no sign of NARC activity.
Autumn series SSB 7th September – already resulted – see above.
Wednesday 16th September Autumn series CW. An excellent turnout of 16 club members for this one with some excellent scores. Here I was suffering from a lot of static from storms in Southern Spain – the static crashes coincided perfectly with readings from Blitzortung.org website! Top scorer for us seems to have been Roger G3LDI with 128 contacts and GI6XX bonus. Link here to logs received.

Hi Phil,
SCRY rtty. 50 qso’s in three bites. Fiddled with ts890 settings so this was a good opportunity to put things right! Tracey, 2E0CEY was there as well.
While I’m here, I have a Diamond K400 boot and hatch mount, with cable. Free to collector.
