Ever closer …..
Welcome to week two hundred and forty seven of NARC’s contest news
Submissions or comments for this news to thedoctorphil@gmail.com. I particularly need any contest related photographs, you may be prepared to share, to head the news each week.
Contesting can be great fun but I know there’s a reluctance to step into unknown waters. It’s a great way of improving many aspects of our hobby including one’s own performance and the quality of your station. If you have any interest whatsoever please call in to the contest net on Friday evening at 9pm on 145.250MHz FM or speak to any of the regular contesters on 450. Or indeed email me!

The results of the 1.3GHz UKAC of19th May were released on 19th June. We had 3 entries in this one, Myself (7th in the Open section), Jim, G3YLA and Mike G4DYC both joint 40th in the Low power section. Not surprisingly, we were 7th in this one overall and remain 5th in the series. Hopefully we can rustle up some more support next time! Link here to results

Contests:-
On VHF
Over the weekend of 20/21 June the 50MHz trophy contest ran. Quite a few club members were involved. The Trimingham contest team M6R were active with 301 contacts and best DX EA8DKZ. Steve M5BFL made 158 contacts with Best DX D4K. Roger EI8KN made 61 contacts best DX IQ8HP. Stewart G4AFF made 47 contacts with best DX LZ1ZM. Terry G0BIX made 4 contacts best DX YT3X. Link here to claimed scores
On Tuesday 23rd June the SHF UKAC ran. I was able to enter in the 2.3GHz section this time with properly functional kit for the first time in 3 months, but conditions were poor and only 13 stations were worked from here. Best DX was DK5QN/P at 470Km. It was good to have Graham G3SGC back in the band although with a rather compromised station. He worked 4 stations with best DX G8OVZ/P at 129Km. On HF
On Thursday 25th June the 80m CC SSB contest ran. Conditions were poor with a semi-circle of strong storms around us causing severe static and what appeared to be low activity. 9 of us are known to have turned out for this one and highest claimed number of contacts was Roger G3LDI who has now put his dipole up at 100ft. Link here to logs received
Please let me know if you were on in any other VHF or HF contests and I’ll put a summary in next week’s news.
Apologies if I have missed any emailed reports, some go to spam and some get lost in the huge quantity of junk mail! I try to be diligent!

Before each of the 2m and 70cm UKACs there is an FM leg starting 1 hour before for 55 minutes. I hear almost no activity in this from here but others may have more luck! Rules etc on RSGBCC site.
