Morse Classes

.
The beginner's class is still on Friday evenings, assuming people sign in. I don't like playing to fresh air so please do try to make your presence known. I had no takers this last week at all. I guess holidays now come into play, besides gardening! Not to wrory, I shall still call, that only takes a couple of minutes. Hopefully you are managing to keep up the practice.
.
The old quote applies here for those that cannot be bothered to make the effort!
.
“Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't.

Key of the Week

.This week I am featuring the key I havejust bought for myself. It is the single lever CT755X by Yuri UR5CDX.

Single Magnet Tension Chrome Plated Lever Paddle.
Features:

• Designed by UR5CDX
• Square base 96x90 mm
• Ability to adjust weight and contact gap
• Magnet tension
• Hand made by a team of professional engineers
• Exceptional quality brass polish, chrome plated
• Mirror like smooth surface
• Solid double silver contacts
• Polished brass paddle plaque featuring the paddle's model
• Long 4.5 feet shielded cable with the connector 1/4"
• Exceptionally strong colour shipping box
• The paddle is shipped bolted with 2 bolts to a plate
• Weight about 1.3 kg
• Full warranty, timely and friendly support
• Accessories: Carbon Fiber Paddles
• Options: Call Sign Engraving (two editions)

I have used it for a while now and have become used to it. I did have the engraved call plate as well. I am still considering if it would be possible to have a paddle similar to my Vibroplex, with separate finger and thumb plastic pieces. It should be posible to fabricate a lever to install. However, I can use it quite well in its present form.

There has been some debate about this. Obviously most are in awe of what this very skilled young man can do. I know that I cannot possibly do it, as is the case with many others. Having said that, what practical use can be made of it? He is very unlikely to ever have a QSO at that speed. Obviously using a paddle is out of the question. The human hand could not possibly cope with keying at that sort of speed and you would need another cooperative person with similar skills in order to do so. However, it does raise eyebrows at seeing this. Have a listen to the video and see if you can even identify it as CW in the first place!

DO REMEMBER THAT HE IS DOING THIS AND IMPRESSING EVERYBODY WATCHING AND HE IS ONLY 13 YEARS YOUNG.

The four sessions are very well attended by lots of amateurs from around the world. Great practice and good fun too. Try it some time. You don't have to be a member to participate.
.
David M7BLX has been taking part in some of the sessions and is enjoying his new experience. This is a sure way of practising and increasing your speed. I also worked John G4IVV this morning on 40m together with Les MM0UMH. Very pleased to see both of them taking part and enjoying it.
