Welcome to week two hundred and thirteen of NARC’s contest news.
Results:-
On VHF
The results of the 144MHz UKAC of 7th October were released on 20th October. Entries from NARC members were well down which is a shame. We managed 6 entries two in the open section and four in the restricted section. It was good to see Neil, G4HUN/p out once more and coming in with our leading score in the restricted section. Link here to results
In the AFS Superleague championships so far NARC are in 6th place out of 15 clubs. Link to this here
In the overall UKAC we are now running 6th in section out of 58 clubs so far. Link to this here.
On HF
No HF results of note that I am aware of this week.
If people are entering other contests of whose results I am obviously unaware please e-mail me to let me know the outcome and I’ll mention it here.
Contests:-
On VHF
On Sunday 19th October the 50MHz AFS contest ran. Conditions weren’t great for this one but activity was reasonable and there were brief DX openings. NARC managed 8 entries which means we have entered an A and a B team each of 4. It was good to see Tracey 2E0CEY joining us for her first time contesting on 6m. Link here to claimed scores
On Tuesday 21st October the 1.3GHz UKAC ran. Once again conditions were poor but there was some reasonable DX to work. 4 of us from NARC entered, best DX here was OZ2ND. Link to claimed scores here
On HF
On Thursday 23rd October the 80m RSGB Autumn series SSB contest ran. Conditions were good and activity was too. NARC managed a good number of entries, I believe 17. Some excellent scores were achieved. As usual on SSB the band was very crowded and noisy. Link to logs received here

Contesting can be great fun but I know there’s a reluctance to step into unknown waters. It’s a great way of improving many aspects of our hobby including one’s own performance and the quality of your station. If you have any interest whatsoever please call in to the contest net on Friday evening at 9pm on 145.250MHz FM or speak to any of the regular contesters on 450. Or indeed email me!
