WRTC gets ever closer….
Welcome to week two hundred and forty three of NARC’s contest news
Next weekend we have CW NFD, once again running from Great Ellingham. On site too will be the station for the UK Six Meter group contest and Radio-Active will be running indoors. Please consider turning up to support this club activity.
Submissions or comments for this news to thedoctorphil@gmail.com. I particularly need any contest related photographs, you may be prepared to share, to head the news each week.
Contesting can be great fun but I know there’s a reluctance to step into unknown waters. It’s a great way of improving many aspects of our hobby including one’s own performance and the quality of your station. If you have any interest whatsoever please call in to the contest net on Friday evening at 9pm on 145.250MHz FM or speak to any of the regular contesters on 450. Or indeed email me!

Contests:-
On VHF
On Thursday 21st May the 70MHz UKAC ran. NARC managed 4 entries. G4LPP, G4PFZ, G8VPE and G4DYC. Unfortunately conditions were once again poor. Best DX here was GM4JTJ in IO86, G4PFZ worked M8VCC/P in IO70, G8VPE worked G4FZN/P in IO94 anf G4DYC using an unmatched vertical colinear also managed G4FZN/P. Link here to claimed scores
On Tuesday 26th May the SHF UKAC ran. I was intending to enter but having set up I found I could near nothing whatsoever. After much investigation including removing the transverter and PA from the tower I found the fault in a broken CoAx in the shack! Now 3 months without a decent entry in SHF. Hoping for better luck next time…
On HF
On Thursday 28th May the 80m CC CW contest ran. It has just finished as I write this. Conditions were pretty good apart from some strong static from a storm off the North Sea coast and activity was reasonable too. I know of 15 NARC stations who entered and there could be more. Some good scores were achieved with Stewart G4AFF topping our list with 154 claimed contacts. Overall it looks like we’ve done well again in this one. Link here to logs received
Please let me know if you were on in any other VHF or HF contests and I’ll put a summary in next week’s news.
Apologies if I have missed any emailed reports, some go to spam and some get lost in the huge quantity of junk mail! I try to be diligent!
