Six teams set out from Thorpe Recreation Ground on Monday to locate the 2025 Foxy fox team of Sonny M0SYW, Mark G0TMT and Paul G4ZBA hidden somewhere in Norfolk using only radio direction finding as bearings and doing it in the least number of miles.
The Foxs were well hidden in Hellesdon Mill Car Park and four of the six teams found them using a mix of direction finding gear, the other two had to open the envelope.
These are the results:
1st in. Vulcan team, Bob G8SDU/Mike G8EEY. 6.9 miles
2nd in. Tornado team, James M0UKS/Tammy M0TC/James G7PQF and Lyn. 5.7 miles
3rd in. The Amateurs team, Richard 2E0RRD/Toby G3HAX. 8.4 miles
4th in. Wrong Direction team Ben 2E0VFN/Rachel. 11.2 miles
5th in. Bittern team Alex G3YOA/Steve M0HET & Mrs HET, 13.3 miles but opened envelope
6th in. Meandering team, Colin M0GMK/Jenny, 21.6 miles but opened envelope
So the winners of this Friendly Foxhunt were Team Tornado finding them in 5.7 miles. Well done to them and to everyone who took part, with thanks to the Foxes and Malcolm G3PDH for invigilating.
Now save the date Monday 21st July for the real thing – The Trophy hunt!
