On Saturday 14th December NARC held the final SSB sked for 2024 with our friends in the twinned city of Koblenz Radio Club in Germany. Some12 stations took part in total which included 2 new stations from the Koblenz club. These regular 40m monthly skeds have been running for many years now and have also involved personal visits over that time by some members either in Norfolk and Koblenz, or meet-ups at the Friedrichshafen annual radio show. Koblenz and Norwich are twinned European cities and the skeds have also been linked with the joint activities between the two twinning societies of each location. Initially back in the 1980’s the radio skeds were held by Reg Brake G8QR but then lapsed for some time until they were re-established in the early 2000’s and have been running ever since with a gradually increasing number of participants.
For the pre Christmas sked Marco DM5ML arranged for a simultaneous internet video link so we able to speak over the radio and at the same time see a live video of all of the stations taking part.
Skeds take place at 1000hrs (UK)each second Saturday of the month on 7.123mHz SSB. Net control under the NARC call sign G8QR, in memory of Reg Brake, arranges a running order as stations call in and a watch is also maintained on 145.250 for any stations having difficulty accessing the net directly on 40m.
All NARC members are welcome to join, or may prefer to listen at first.
73, with Christmas and New Year Greetings to all NARC and Koblenz K32 Club members
