Some members of the NARC HF contest team being presented with the G5RV Memorial Shield for winning the 2025 80m CC series
Welcome to week two hundred and eighteen of NARC’s contest news.
Firstly, my apologies to Jon G4IVV and Tracey 2E0CEY. Unfortunately I was late correcting this news last week so incorrect information appeared in the newsletter. Just to clarify, Jon G4IVV won the last Autumn series DATA contest and also that whole DATA series. Congratulations to him! Also , congratulations are due to Tracey, 2E0CEY for being the leading intermediate licence station in both the DATA and the SSB series in the 100W assisted section!
Results:-
On VHF
The results of the 432MHz UKAC of 11th November were released on 21st November. Our team of 5 stations earned 2,180 points for the club coming in 5th place in this one and remaining 6th in this series. Link to results here
In the overall UKAC we are still running 6th in section out of 68 clubs so far. Link to this here.
On HF
The results of the second RSGB 1.8MHz contest of 15th November were released on 21st November. Our 5 club members performed well with runner up in the UK assisted section being Stewart, G4AFF and in 3rd place Roger, G3LDI. Link to results here
In the AFS Superleague championships so far NARC are now up into 4th place out of 28 clubs. Link to this here

Contests:-
On VHF
On Tuesday 25th November the SHF UKAC ran – once again I was the only NARC entry being active on 13cm. In the 3h of the test conditions were really dire and I only managed 10 contacts which, UBNs permitting, should leave me in 4th place in section. Link to claimed scores here
On HF
On Thursday 27th November the last contest in this year’s 80m Autumn series ran, the CW contest. Conditions for the first few minutes seemed reasonable but as the contest got going lightning static from huge storms over the Mediterranean caused large and frequent static crashes and skip went long at the same time. This affected many of our scores adversely but seemed to be doing much the same to other teams. We managed 16 entries which was good to see at the end of a series. Highest number of stations worked was by Malcolm G3PDH in the 100W unassisted section with 132 (but no GM6XX) and Roger G3LDI 131 (with GM6XX) in the 100W assisted section. Link to logs received here

Before each of the 2m and 70cm UKACs there is an FM leg starting 1 hour before for 55 minutes. I hear almost no activity in this from here but others may have more luck! Rules etc on RSGBCC site.

Wednesdays throughout the year, CW OPS 1 hour mini tests 13:00, 19:00, Thurs 03:00 and 07:00, exchange Name and G if not a member or CW OPS number if you are a member.

Also on Fridays 2000 to 2100 and Mondays 0000 to 0100 each week CW OPS runs the K1USN slow speed CW contests. Any speed up to 20wpm is acceptable. For rules see :- CW OPs SST page these contests are open to anyone.

Contesting can be great fun but I know there’s a reluctance to step into unknown waters. It’s a great way of improving many aspects of our hobby including one’s own performance and the quality of your station. If you have any interest whatsoever please call in to the contest net on Friday evening at 9pm on 145.250MHz FM or speak to any of the regular contesters on 450. Or indeed email me!
