A young Ricky G3VZT
Welcome to week two hundred and fourteen of NARC’s contest news.
Results:-
On VHF
The results of the 432MHz UKAC of 14th October were released on 25th October. Entries from NARC members were well down which is a shame. We managed 5 entries in all. We managed to come 7th overall in this one leaving us in 6th place overall in this series. Link to results here
The results of the 70MHz UKAC of 16th October were released on 30th October. NARC managed 4 entries in this one coming 4th overall which is a good result. We are still running 6th in this 70MHz series. Link to results here
In the AFS Superleague championships so far NARC are in 6th place out of 15 clubs. Link to this here
In the overall UKAC we are now running 6th in section out of 58 clubs so far. Link to this here.

The results of the 80m Autumn series DATA contest of 15th October were released on 24th October. Our team of 13 managed a comfortable win with a total of 8,158 points. Gloucester were second this time with 4,440 points. In the Autumn series we are now on 47,802 points with Bristol in second place on 27,180 points. Lead scorer in this one for us was Jon, G4IVV with 874 points so congratulations to him! We await a set of SSB results then there are 3 more contests in the series. Link to results here

Contests:-
On VHF
On Tuesday 28th October the SHF UKAC ran. In the absence of Graham, G3SGC, I was the only NARC entry and then only on 2.3GHZ. Conditions were fairly flat and almost all contacts were well in the noise but 18 QSOs were made, which, UBN dependant, should give us a win in the Restricted section on that band. Link to claimed scores here
OnHF
On Saturday and Sunday 25th and 26th October the main event was CQ WW SSB. I am aware that several club members took part including Stewart, G4AFF and Tracey, 2E0CEY, but was away and have received no reports of activity. Apologies to any I may have missed. Link here to logs received
On Monday 27th October, the RSGB FT4 contest ran. I spotted club members Roger, EI8KN and Kevin, M0KKM in the list of entrants. Apologies if I missed anyone. Link to logs received here

Contesting can be great fun but I know there’s a reluctance to step into unknown waters. It’s a great way of improving many aspects of our hobby including one’s own performance and the quality of your station. If you have any interest whatsoever please call in to the contest net on Friday evening at 9pm on 145.250MHz FM or speak to any of the regular contesters on 450. Or indeed email me!
