What on Earth is this...

This is our regular competition where we show an unusual object, tool, gadget or thing-me-bob sent in by one of the NARC members and you have to guess (or maybe you know!) what it is for...

Have a good look at the picture below - what on earth is this or what is it used for  ...?!

You have until 3pm on the next NARC Live to let Tammy and David know...

Trimingham Contest site Update

The following is an update by Richard G4CDN on the work that is going on at Frank's site at Triminghamwhich NARC has used for a few of its contests...

Exciting things are happening at the Trimingham site for the use of Bittern members, Trimingham CG, NARC and others.
On top of the already installed permanent loo, construction is now underway to give us a shack with an operating as well as a repair bench and a separate social/tea room.
By arrangements there will be 2x 80ft trailer towers on site.
Any help would be welcome and just ask for the wish list of things we would like (which will obviously change with time).
The electricity will be metered and needed to be paid for plus a donation on each visit towards, internet, grass cutting etc, with any excess going to prostrate cancer research.
We would like to see the site used for contests as well as other times to encourage people starting this wonderful hobby or just experimenting with self research. Booking will be by arrangement with Linda G0AJJ, myself and ultimately Frank who owns the site.

NARC Club and members news...

Members are very welcome to send me (David G7URP) news and submit articles for the newsletter which can be published here...  Please make sure they are sent to me in plain formatted black text (ideally Arial or Helvetica 12pt) on a plain background otherwise it may not show well on newsletters and on the website. Thank you.

Both are in good condition and come with their microphones and manuals.  Kim G4WUK is selling these on behalf of the family, so any queries please contact Kim via email:  kimmedley890@btinternet.com

Just to follow Tom G8XQD's piece in Friday’s newsletter, I thought members might be interested in my experience with SSTV from the ISS over the weekend…
Using an FT817 with a handheld Elk antenna, a Signalink interface and MMSSTV, I received several pictures or parts of pictures over half a dozen passes (indoor operation by the way) I also caught the ISS end of an ARISS school contact on Friday evening using an FT60 and Diamond SRH771 antenna, again indoor operating…
Lots of fun and I shall keep an eye out for future announcements so I can improve the set up and be more prepared!
I’ve just treated myself to a QRP Labs QDX kit, so time to rewatch Hans on NARC Live talking about it… have any other members built a QDX?
I had a play in CQWW SSB at the end of October , single op 10m QRP - raw scores put me middle of the table for that category so pleased with that… trusty G3YLA 10m slim Jim works well!
