We are very pleased to confirm final details for our Barford Radio Event this Sunday July 4th at Barford Village Green from 0900-1400.

STOP PRESS: Thanks to Jim G3YLA for his latest forecast for Barford at the bottom of this article

Firstly note that this is not our normal full Radio Rally but an all outside event where amateurs will be in a no contact, socially distanced outside park environment. Radio amateurs may also park their cars in a designated area for small private sales which will have appropriate distances between cars to prevent crowding, but this will be limited to selling personal equipment from a car boot or one table - we are not inviting any commercial traders to avoid any possible crowding.

The event is entirely outside and so please be sure to bring your own chair, refreshments or picnic and a gazebo or sunshade if you like - there is plenty of space. Everyone will need to stay socially distanced and in line with regulations there must be no large groups of more than 30 people, though in reality of course we expect much smaller groups of a few talking.

There will be access to the village hall for toilets only with a maximum of two people inside at a time and a mask should be worn when inside - Hand sanitiser will be at the door.

To avoid unnecessary handling of money the event is completely free for visitors and sellers alike and Norfolk Amateur Radio Club are sponsoring this event and paying the field and toilet hire costs but we will be fund raising for two local good causes. Unfortunately it is not practical to run a covid safe Raffle or Tombola, but we will have three collecting buckets for voluntary donations on the day and all proceeds will be equally split between the clubs chosen charity for 2021 the East Anglian Childrens Hospice and the Barford Village Hall emergency roof repair fund.

Both the Norfolk Repeater Group (inc GB3NB) and GB3NR repeater groups will have stands just top the right of the village hall to collect subs (£5 each per year) but if possible please help by putting your £5 inside an envelope marked with your name, callsign plus your email or postal address if you need a receipt to be sent. There will also be a display from some of our Bright Sparks team showing some of their projects and activities.

Please spread the word with local amateurs, radio clubs, friends and families and keep an eye on our website for updates - please remember to tell them this is a socially distanced all-outside event and that everyone must bring their own refresments and seating. Please help the volunteers by taking any rubbish back home with you.

We hope you have a wonderful day!

Barford Radio Event - Co organiser with Tammy M0TC and Mark G0LGJ

We are organising this in the spirit of friendship to radio amateurs and radio clubs. As no money is being charged at the gate we feel it should be possible for people to arrive, meet friends and buy bits and pieces in a socially distanced fresh outdoor environment and needing no physical contact with anything or anyone outside their own vehicle, making it as Covid safe as we feel is possible. However this event will only take place if it is well within government restrictions or advice at the time and will be cancelled if it becomes the responsible thing to do - watch our website for any updates.

Weather forecast for Barford from Jim G3YLA @ 20.00 Friday:
"Some early brightness, but cloudier by mid morning with a risk of isolated showers late morning onwards, but mostly after midday and overall I would think a 20% chance. Winds light southerly and temperature up to 17-19C (mid 60sF)"
So thanks very much Jim, and I think that means better to come earlier in the day than later at the moment (but not before 0900 please!)
