Cricket World Cup
England Cricket Team will be opening the CWC on Thursday 30th May in a match against South Africa at The Oval. Club members of any licence grade are invited to come and operate GB19ENG from my home station on that day, from 9am. Phone or CW operation are available; I will need to do some work to get RTTY and PSK available for split operation, (expect a pile-up!) but I will do my best to organise that before then.
Logging will be with N1MM+ which should be familiar to most of the club’s contesters; if you do not use it, it is very easy to learn the basics for this kind of operation.
Tea, coffee and juice will be available; bring your own grub, or you could visit either of the two pubs or the Bistro in Kenninghall which serve food, or there are chip shops in neighbouring villages.
My home is at The Firs, The Butts, Kenninghall NR16 2EQ. Please let me know on 07552202227 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to come so I have an idea about numbers. I do have two large dogs who will give you a boisterous welcome but then leave you alone – let me know if you do not get on with dogs.
Cricket World Cup and Field Day
Malcolm G3PDH has kindly agreed to activate GB19AUS over the Friday afternoon/Saturday morning of Field Day, 31st and 1st June, at DCP in Great Ellingham. Club members will be welcome to operate this callsign, once the stations are set up, between 1200 UTC on Friday to 1200UTC on Saturday.
Activating the callsigns yourself
If you would like to have a go operating an SES from your own station using either GB19ENG or GB19AUS, then please get in touch with me. Club activations are being given booking priority until 15th April, but after that date operating slots are available to any amateur who is a member of the RSGB. Foundation and Intermediate licence holders need to apply through a Full licence holder. Although Special Event Stations normally have to be open to the Public, Ofcom have relaxed that rule for the callsigns used in association with the CWC. Please contact me for further information.
