 Jim G3YLA 25WPM Classes

Jim's classes have now completed, but he is continuing with revision in view of the fact that four people turned up. That is very encouraging!

Beginners CW Practice session report Tuesday 2nd June 2020

 telegraphiste

It is very good seeing folk (four this week) turn up for the practice sessions on the repeater GB3NB and its worth reminding everyone that the ‘beginners’ sessions will continue through the summer for practice at 25wpm at the usual 8pm Tuesday evening on the repeater.

The aim is to get the more common abbreviations and phrases so familiar that they don’t need thinking about, but are just words that form in your mind. It will also bring you much closer to being able to hear a CW conversation in your head without writing anything down.

I imagine that this will be the format for the rest of the year, but happy to consider another true beginners course (about 20weeks) starting next January if there is demand. In the meantime use the archived MP3 and text files on the NARC website to get underway yourself for extra revision.

Keep listening on the CW end of the bands when in the shack… its the best background music going!

I would appreciate pictures of your key or keys together with a head shot so I can compile them for a page on the CLub's web site. Emails to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I am featuring the keys this week belonging to Phil G4LPP. The straight key is a vintage one, just like me (!) and the paddle is the latest Begali HST II,

I could use some more pictures to feature here please. It does not matter if you are not overly active, but just shows what key(s) you use.

Headcopy Class is going well.

EISH5 These groups are just a bit of fun really. It concentrates the mind on patterns. If you have problems with this mix, don't worry too much because it is highly unlikely that they will ever be sent in general conversation. So don't despair, even the most skilled have problems with groups like this.
However, it is all good Practice, that Big P word again!
This week we had 4 people taking part, still great fun however.
.
So, join us at 1000 on Monday mornings and have some fun. GOTA is the accronym to apply here, Get On The Air and make more Qs.
